North Yorkshire is one of the areas where Quakerism came together in the mid-seventeenth century. The Quaker community here was very much part of that early history. We have changed greatly since those early days. However, the original Quaker ideal of living simply, promoting peace, speaking with truth and integrity and seeking God in everyone are still part of our core values and practice.
We have around 70 people who are members or associated with the Meeting. Usually 20-30 people attend the Meeting for Worship on Sunday and about half that number attend on Tuesday lunchtimes. Our ages range from under-5 to over-90.
